Recently me and a few friends went to visit the Singapore Design Festival 2009!  Theres some very cool ideas of the things that are design and can be sold to the tourist. Some of these items are TuTu Kuay Eraser, Packets of Teas, Coffee, Teh and alot of others. The main idea is to allow the tourist to know our local traditions and also what kind of unique food we have in singapore.

I am suppose to walk around and choose a design that i like. Below is the photo of it =D   This is called ” The Futurological Congress Design”. I pick this because i find it really interesting.   This item i pick, is a series of plywood that is cut and shape into different parts (sort of like jigsaw puzzle) and allow the users to fix themself. The user can use those plywood to create a table, or a stand for anything! And its also very light!

It is used in the whole exhibition for the Poland category. It helps to present the different work piece in the exhibit. Alright! Below are the photos that i have taken =D

1.What is a multimedia CD-ROM title?

CD-ROM title are the menu that will pop up after you insert the CD-ROM into the computer.

2.What are some application of CD-ROM title design? Eg. Educational. Bring examples, if any.

Some applications of CD-ROM title design are Run.exe ( to start installing the software or start using it), Eject the CD ( To stop the CD-ROM from running and eject out) and many others like view information , etc.   This is very common for games CD-ROM, Educational CD-ROMS, Softwares(adobe cs4)  and etc.  All this will help the users to better understand the information that is in the CD-ROM. Tutorial can be commonly found in all there CD-ROM.

3.What are the differences between website design and CD-ROM title design?

The differences between website design and CD-ROM title design is that  CD-ROM title designs only consist of Video clips while website design can consists of texts, images and videos and links.

Another differences is that website design consist of header, main content and footer, while most of the CD-ROM title design only consist of header and main content as they do not need footer.

CD-ROM title design are usually simple while website designs are more complexe and CD-ROM title design does not require internet connection but Website Design does.

It’s a very good experience because it’s a very uncommon type of sport that not a lot of people  know about. Its give you sense of satisfactory when you complete the mission given when you win your opponent. The field for this sports is also design in a way that its similar to a battlefield. I think it’s a very interactive because we need to communicate with our teammates during the game in order to win and it also require planning/tactic before you start  attacking your enemy. The process for planning is also interactive because you would hear and listen to the suggestion from your teammate and from there, the whole team would give their own opinion and suggestion about the plan and how to improve on it.

3D Movie Experience

I think this is another very good experience because normal movies do not have the 3D effect. They are normally on flat images, but this 3D movie have the pop-out effect. It makes the movie more interesting and more interactive rather than just a plain motion movie. The effects will cause you to feel that you are actually in the movie and your mood would change according to the scenes.

What is web application?

Web Application is a tool that functions and operated by means of a computer that requires access via web browser like internet. Its is also a computer software application that is coded to make it do certain things. Some examples of it is the normal webpage or website like (facebook, friendster), using HTML or XHTML and also java games (online Mini-games), using JAVA programming.

What is the difference between web design and web application?

The difference between web design and web application is that web design is to design contents that will be on the web application using typography, graphic designs and other skills to make the design attractive, while web application is to use computer language to code and make the application work the way it is planned. Web design is to design while web application is to code it and make the thing work.

Although web design do required scripting for web application too, but the difference is that web application requires only scripting/ coding and design sense is not required.

I think the site is created for the customer who wanna check out on the services that THIS FASHION provides.
It would also provide information, like the locations of the outlets, the hotline and also about their latest promotions.
The Operation hours and email can also be found on the site. This would helps to reduce the trouble for the customer,so that they can check
the information anywhere, instead of going to one of the outlet.

What are the good attributes of the site (in terms
of usability, aesthetic issues, etc)?

They use light yellow for the background and black for the text. This would create a good contrast between the text and the background, making
it easy for the users to read.
They also underline the links, so that the users would know that those are links that can be clicked.
The site is very neat, and the information are quite clear.

 

What are the bad attributes of the site?

The site doesnt show any products and users might not know what is THIS FASHION about. It didnt state or show anything that can show that it is  a shop that sells clothings.
The design of the site is also very plain, making it very unattractive. Users would want to close the site because its very boring. The grey links and wordings are also hard to see.
